Saturday Night Chicken Breasts

Might fantastic chicken breasts, done with an ultra fast pass thru an oiled pan and sunk with honey, ketchup and BBQ sausage.
Amazing stuff.

Chromecast No Audio For You!

As expected, the Chromecast Audio Experiment finished without success...

Was sort of expecting that for Linux, even tho I'm running Chrome, but what a hell... Chrome "syncs" ok with the Chromecast Audio, but nothing happens, sometimes it even crashes the whole Chrome (not only the synced tab).

But, I was more optimistic when it comes to casting from a Chromebook... I thought that the thing being an official Google lappie, running on its own Chrome browser... You know the drill, thing might be smoother...
Anyway, exactly the same problem, it syncs ok, but it doesn't reproduce any music at all (strangely you can hear the volume indicator pip when you scale the volume up or down, but nothing else.)

This crap is never ending... These last couple of days have been a nightmare, weather wise... As humid and hot as your typical Buenos Aires summer day.

Movies During The Weekend

Horrific terror edition this weekend... Obviously, hand picked by the GF...

Goodnight Mommy:
The best of the bunch this weekend.
Strange, slow and really cool (Full Disclosure:  Slept thru a minute or two here and there on this one...)

Silent Hill:
This one is loooong, man (and not very good either, at least IMHO).

A New Life Awaits (The T60p)

The mighty T60p rides again!
But, this time with only 2 GB of RAM, since I've transferred the 2 GB stick to the MacBook White (maxxing the little Whitey to a whopping 4 GB) a couple of days ago.
Will see how this goes...

Sunday Night Pasta

And not just any pasta, dude...
Not raviolis nor Sorrentinos this time...
A mighty mighty Lasagna.
It was a good thing to change a bit our pasta habits.

Spiked OCD

I've just realized this... The little Flip has a missing rubber tip, the one on the right side of the keyboard.
Looked over all the previous Flip C100 posts, and is missing right form the first post.
Damn, I can't un-look that now! My little Lappiebook has a chipped tooth!
Damn, that shit drives me nuts!

(More) Random Shit I've Been Watching

Continuing with this, or more specifically, with this two:

Halt and Catch Fire:
Right now past the middle of Season 4... I mean, what a fuck is this? Where the hell are the computers?
It has evolved (or something like that) onto a soap opera of sorts.

Silicon Valley:
With this one, again, I'm right onto Season 4, and, yeah, it is sort of funny sometimes, but nothing to write home about it, at least IMHO.

Saturday Night Milangas

Magnificent milanesas with mashed potatoes as side topping, along with an avocado, mixed right there onto or with the potatoes.
Glory.

Portability Redefined

Amazed.
Friday night transferred the SSD from the Opti -which I'm hardly using these days- to the X140e, in the process, also cleaned the hell out of all the gunk that got stuck on the Opti vents over the years.
After the transfer all I have to do was to enable the Power Manager, seriously, that's all.
I mean, moving the SSD from the Opti to the X140e, damn if I'm not impressed.

Movies During The Weekend

Only one movie, but a might good one...

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri:
Very good one, entertaining, an amazing script.
I love -as you can see- the opening sequence.
The GF loved it too.
Only thing, the catalyst seems to act a bit fast, IMHO.

Linux Void on The Dell Inspiron 1000

Last night (finally) installed Linux Void on the old, noisy and hot as hell Inspiron 1000.
The install went perfect, sort of looks like a FreeBSD or OpenBSD installer.
Used the Live XFCE image, 32 bits, of course; only drawback is that the installer doesn't offer the option to encrypt neither your $HOME nor an LVM.

A mix of raviolis, palta, corn and the amazing and secret GF stew all thrown together and marvelously.

Random Shit I've Been Watching Lately

Along For The Ride:
Really cool documentary, archive footage is superb, you might even think its a Criterion film (most of all because of the cover art), but it doesn't.
The film is sort of a post facto Entourage kinda tale.

Halt And Catch Fire (Season 2 & 3):
Just finished this season, kindy goofy, it took me literally, months to actualy finish the second season.
The third one went fast ;)
Right now watching the fourth season.

Silicon Valley (Season 2):
Not really why I'm watching it, first season was really stupid IMHO, specially after all the hype created around it; I can't ven believe it has so many seasons aftewards.
Anyway, just giving it a chance.

Doctor Strange:
Who the hell watches this shit????? By Jeebus, it is a humongous pile of crap.
I've started to watch this one about a year and half ago, and never had the nerve or time to finish it... Don't know why I even bother to.

The Post:
Pretty good one, as usual, Spielberg doesn't disappoints.

Haven't posted one of this in quite a long time... And I really mean a long time... I tend to forget lately, and I'm not much onto window shopping these days.
As a bonus, a picture of my beloved MBP.

Sunday Night Pasta

Another Sunday night of raviolis with the GF, this time, as you can see, I had with a shit load of carrots as side toppings.
The raviolis from the new pasta place are amazing, even better than from our regular, original, place.

Movies During The Weekend

Jackrabbit:
Slow paced dystopian cyber punk indie movie.
Nevertheless, quite good, and the production design makes the most out of almost nothing.
Cool movie, remind a bit to "Primer".

Brawl in Cell Block 99:
Fantastic movie, I was sort of convinced it was going to be a piece of crap, but it turned out quite good.
The GF, even struggling against sleep loved this one.

Operation Odessa:
Really cool doc, in the same tradition as Cocaine Cowboys.
"This might be the only rich Cuban who didn't got his money from his own people" the GF dixit

Trump, An American Dream:
Well, it certainly looks biased, specially in the beginning, as it goes it gets a bit more centered.
Also, young Trump looks a lot like Paul Dano.

To Dev & Write And Back Again

Well... The little Flip is back on the reservation.
That is, got it back under (full) control, even turned back from the Developer Mode.
The experiment I did to customize the cursor icons on Chrome OS went nowhere at all.
I'm pleasantly surprised as how easy got to be to get out and back onto the Google/ Chrome OS reservation.

Amazing recovery for my little mandarina tree...
From this to this and later this...
Once again, like I said, this -and asados- might be the only good thing about summer.
All the fucking heat and humid has a nice and green sub-product.

Small potatoes? Big cursors! (II)

My own TIbeam, the way I like it
Ok, this is no news, I'm a schmuck, I know that already, but nevertheless, I can't believe I'm not able to customize my mouse cursors icon on Chrome OS.
I know, I know, it is not a big deal, etc. etc. etc But, what a hell, I want to be able to do such a stupid thing w/o having to do all sort of stupid crap on my box.

I went the same route, the same pain and trial and error passage, when I was using Os X circa Snow Leopard, (damn, man! That was nearly 8 years ago...)
Anyway, it even seems like it is harder to accomplish something like that on Chrome OS.
A real shame, since I find the hardware amazingly sexy and cool, specially the Asus Chromebook C302, not to mention the PixelBook.

Saturday Night Milanesa

Summer is -really slowly- dying at last, therefore, no more asados.
So, last Saturday it was a time for a belated anniversary dinner, and what better than homemade Milanesa Napolitanas with oven cooked potatoes?
Nothing, I can tell you.

MacBook White: Load Average Goes To Hell

All good things come to an end, I guess... The MacBook White Love Affair is over...
I'm afraid found a problem with my little MacBook. It looks like there is something that is spiking the load when charging the battery, go figure.
Is a real PITA, temperature goes to hell, and the fan, by Jeebus, the fan...

Movies During The Weekend

A fuck load of movies during our extra large weekend.

Darkest Hour:
Nice one, if I have to pick the best of the bunch, I guess this might be the winner.

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women:
Sort of skipped this one completely, the GF loved, tho.

Live By Night:
Nah.
Tries to do a lot, and in the end it is a boring.

The Shape of Water:
Didn't liked it. At all.
Pure BS right from the get go.
The GF liked it a lot.

Mouse Cursor Icons on the Chromebook

My own TIbeam, the way I like it
Yesterday moved my Asus Flip to the Developer Mode.
The idea is to customize the damn mouse cursor... So far it was useless, I failed miserably on the endeavor.

As always, all of this is with the sole purpose of getting rid of the dam I-Beam cursor, guess you could say that I'm on a crusade, since I've been doing this on every single OS I get my hands on.
On the chromebook, the cursor icons are stored on the directory:

/usr/share/cursors/xorg-x11/chromeos/cursors/

And the index.theme for the icon set is located on the directory:

/usr/share/cursors/xorg-x11/default/index.theme

With the contents:

Inherits=chromeos

What I've tried to use my custom cursors, so far was to create a directory on the $HOME for the user chronos, and place the cursor files there; tried using the directories ~/.icons/ and ~/.cursors/.
So far, the damn thing simply refuses to work, that is, it keeps using ChromeOS default mouse cursor icons.

Saturday Afternoon Asado

It was a mess, but somebody had to do it.
My first daylight asado, and, of course, on a sunny and hot as hell day... Leaving the weather aside, I think I really like, or enjoy, making asados at night.

The Little Snowflake That Delivers

The little MacBook White is really good and kicking hard.
Yes, it is slow as hell, pretty heavy, hot and when the fan kicks in, the thing looks like a P-47 (which indicates that the CPU governor works), but ITOH, the keyboard is actually quite good, a bit bouncy, but nevertheless a nice one to use.
So far I'm happy as a hell with the lappie.
The battery must have around 1000+ cycles, it delivers something like hours of juice at the moment.
Suspend, sound, USB everything so far works A Ok; haven't tested the external monitor yet, only "glitch" haven't been able to get the CPU temperature thru the command line so far, the way I did it on the MacBook Pro (actually, the way that pretty much I do on every lappie) doesn't work on this baby.
