Movies During The Weekend

Only one during this weekend... And it actually it was the third attempt to make it through, not that the movie was bad, but we were beat, too much work, and the year is starting to take it toll.
Also, we skipped our weekly episode of "House Of Cards" as well.

  • The Kingdom
A re-watch for me, but I really thought it was damn good, so I put a word for it with the GF.
She enjoyed a lot and I did too, once again.
I must have seen it years ago, because while watching it,  I could hardly recall a thing or two about it.

Apps Time!

I'm not much of an app man (I'd like to keep things mean and lean whatever possible), but nevertheless here it is the tiny little list of apps I use on my Moto G 3rd Generation:
  • Skype
  • Last.FM
  • Google Keep
  • Airdroid
  • ES File Explorer
  • Kindle
  • WhatsApp
Nothing fantastic, but those are the ones I can't live without.
I don't understand why Google Keep doesn't come pre-installed.

More Transcoding Fun!!!

Another one of those... More than nothing, as a (searchable) place holder for the ffmpeg options I've used.

ffmpeg -i "Hearts of Darkness.avi" -ab 128k -b 1200k\

 -r 23.97 -s 632x258 -vcodec mpeg4 Hearts-of-Darkness.mp4

Moto G (Day 1)

Today (finally!!) got the 4G SIM card from my cellphone provider.
Yeah, it took a while, but, what I have to say about the whole process is that I was quite surprised...
I had to wait to get the SIM, but the activation itself was instant, they cut off -killed from the network- my old BB, and brought to life the 4G SIM and the line and everything else (literally) in a second on the Moto G.
And, by Jeebus the Moto G, compared to the late BB... The difference in terms of teh snappy is world shattering.

Movies During The Weekend

Only two this time.
And, on top of that, we couldn't watch our beloved episode of the series "House Of Cards", we had a problem with the streaming.

  • Aloha
I really like Crowe's films, specially "Almost Famous, IMHO, his best one; but this one seems like something you have already see, maybe even not only once, but something that you saw a couple of times already.
The GF liked it.

  • Safe House
Kinda cool, although, D. Washington is kinda boring, he repeats himself over and over.
I wanted to see this one for quite sometime, only glimpsed to a couple of minutes here and there on cable, I was waiting for watching the whole thing.

Movies During The Weekend

During the last weekend we got our sh*t together and watched a sh*t load of films once again...
  • The Age of Adeline
We actually finished this one, we saw just half of it last weekend.
I still don't like it.

  • The Lost Boys
A true classic that deserves a re-watch now and then, this time on Full HD.

  • Selma
Nice one, the cinematography was the best of the movie.

  • Maggie
A total crap.
Unbelievable stupid movie.

  • Need For Speed
A request of the GF, another one of those car movies.
IMHO, this one is better than the current state of the Fast & Furious series.
The cinematography is awesome.

  • House Of Cards
Our usual TV series as a couple, we watched episode 6 of the third season, the end is (kinda) near!

Goodbye BB, Hello Moto G

Time to upgrade and move on...

Goodbye to my beloved BB9900... Hello to the Moto G Third Generation.
Giving it its first charge, will have to deal with my cellphone company in the next few days, as I have to change my SIM to a micro & 4G enabled one.

So, here is to the late BB, thanks for all the keys!

Movies During The (Past) Weekend

Strictly speaking, they were none...
We were really beat up, and we couldn't even finish one...
We'll try to watch a whole lot of more movies this weekend.

  • The Age of Adaline
A Sci-Fi chick flick of sorts that the GF choose.
Like I said, we watched  just half of it, and it didn't seem that good to me.

Screen Real Estate: You Never Have Enough

I'm utterly and completely fascinated by the T60p screen real estate.
Ever since I got it back from the dead, and loaded with the fantastic Linux Mint XFCE 17.2 release on top of that, I've been using it almost non stop.
Yes, it is slow -hell, it only has 3 GB of RAM- but having a 15" screen with 1600x1200 resolution is a pure and total delight.
I'm seriously considering getting a lappie with even more resolution (if they weren't so brutally expensive, damn!!!)...
I'll try to aim for a FHD one, jumping to 1920x1080.
Literally, will see.

No Place To Mitnick

Last week finished "No Place To Hide", the Snowden book, pretty good book, specially the first chapter.
In fact, that chapter goes along specially well with the movie "Citizen Four", which I saw a couple of months ago.

Started right away with Mitnick's book "Ghost In The Wires", I've heard, read, and saw about the whole Mitnick thing way back when (also read "The Fugitive Game" about 20 years ago), but it is really nice to have a recollection of the whole story right from the very beggining.

To Linux Mint, Unity and Beyond (or Back!)

Well, after getting my lovely T60p back from the dead, I've used a bit the Unity install I did on the T60.
Things went obviously well, no hardware problems at all, that is....
But, I guess I can finally say that Unity is not my thing (maybe this time for good).
Not even with the new and improved all shown Global Menu.
So, I got the newest Linux Mint, the XFCE variant, and slapped it onto the T60p.
Everything seems to go A Ok so far...

Movies During The Weekend

What We Do In The Shadows
Amazingly funny movie (I used to love "Flight Of The Conchords". so...).
The best of the bunch.

John Dies At The End
Actually, it was kinda boring.

Olympus Has Fallen
A cool one, lots of violence and fun.
The gunship attack is the best scene, IMHO.

Red Dawn (2012)
A total an complete piece of crap.
Almost unwatchable, a pain to actually finish the stinky ball of shit.

House Of Cards
Our usual weekly episode.

Fan Error on my T60p: Fixed!

Took me a while, but it is finally fixed.
There was the usual gunk, but also the fan needed a bit of oil.
It worked A Ok after that, I simply changed the HDD from T60 to the T60p and went on booting without any issue on Trusty Tahr.

Small Last.fm update

Pretty hectic week around here...
Not much time for posting stuff on my beloved Oesediez, I'm afraid...
But, nevertheless, I have a minute for just a small note regarding my obsession with tracking my music habits... I haven't yet jumped another 1K notch, yet...
But another thing -a milestone, if you will- happened, I'm at the 51 tracks per day average...
Not bad, not bad at all!
